Rolling one six-sided die gives each face the same chance. Rolling two dice is different: totals like 7 appear more often than 2 or 12 because more combinations produce them.

That is why dice are useful for both games and teaching probability. The roll is quick, but the math behind the total can be surprisingly rich.
